This very quick outline is definitely of Camber Castle, as suggested by Finberg, rather than a Martello tower. Turner has drawn the central block from inside the walls. The same view is repeated, with rather more detail, on folio 60 verso of the sketchbook (D10513; Turner Bequest 53a). There is a view of the castle from the surrounding levels on folio 62 (D10516; Turner Bequest CXL 55).
