As with folios 34 verso–35 (D13516–D13517), this page and folio 36 (D13519) contain a jumble of sketches of Blackness Castle and Linlithgow Loch. There are three sketches on this page. In the centre and at the bottom of the page is a drawing in which we look across the Firth of Forth from the south bank in the foreground to the north bank beyond. This is part of a view of Blackness Castle continued on folio 36. There is another view of the castle, inscribed ‘Blackness’ at the top right of the page which extends slightly to folio 36. At the top left is a rough thumbnail sketch of a building on a river bank with mountains beyond. The two inscriptions are illegible and the sketch is not detailed enough to clearly point to any particular subject, although a distant view of Blackness Castle would be the obvious suggestion.
