Across this page are five sketches of the coastline of the Firth of Forth, all taken from around Hopetoun and Blackness. The top two sketches look east along the southern bank of the Forth and were perhaps taken from Blackness Castle. While the top sketch has not been precisely identified, the sketch below (which continues at the left to folio 36 verso; D13520) looks towards the island of ‘I[nch] Garvie’. Across the middle of the page and on folio 36 verso is a view west towards Blackness Castle, which sits on a promontory into the Forth. Beneath this is a slight sketch of the bank of the Forth. Finally there is another view of Blackness Castle from further away to the east. In the foreground at the left several figures stand on a bridge or parapet near the water.
