Painted with the sketchbook inverted, this watercolour beginning relates to two other studies in the book (folios 13, 14; D13827, D13828; CLXX 12, 13), both of which share the palette of red and yellow (or orange) and grey, and have the same building shapes above a grey area of water. All three studies are likely to relate to sketches of the Custom House and London Bridge elsewhere in the sketchbook (folio 12; D13826; CLXX 11).
