With the sketchbook turned to the left are three outlines of distant hills or mountains. The top and middle sketches are clearly of the same view, and the bottom sketch may be a variation of it too. Turner’s inscription either reads ‘Hill’ or just the letters ‘H l’. After making these rough sketches Turner may have flipped forward three pages to make another sketch on folio 5 (D25532), as that sketch was made with the book in the same orientation.
