With the sketchbook inverted is a view of Derwentwater made across two sketchbook pages (continued on folio 29, D25579). Turner stands near the landing stages at the north-eastern end of the lake, hence the presence of moored sailing boats on the current page. Friars Crag can be seen on folio 29. Strangely, there is no sign of Derwent Island; Turner must have either stood too close to it, or even on it to miss it out of the picture, unless he chose not to include it. The hills beyond the lake on this page are the Derwent Fells, with Castlerigg on folio 29.
