This view of Brougham Castle near Penrith was made from the east and includes the three-arched Castle Bridge in the foreground. The keep is shown in basic outline, Turner having already made a more detailed sketch on folio 37 (D25834). In the distance at the right is one of the Cumbrian hills to the south-west, probably Blencathra.
There are two further sketches of the castle on folio 38 (D25835), this time from the west.
