One of Turner’s eight pages with sketches of New Abbey (see folio 46; D25831 for details), this page shows the interior with a view looking east up the nave towards the east window. With no surviving roof we look right up to the tower with its bare gables and a triangular scar where the roof of the nave once was. The inscription ‘6’ at the bottom left of the page refers to the fact that there are six arches on either side of the nave to the west of the tower, only four of which are shown.
There is another sketch of the interior on folio 47 (D25853).
