These two sketches have been identified as views from above the Bridge of Allan to the north of Stirling.1 Both sketches show Castle Rock with Stirling Castle at the left and the Campsie Fells in the distant south. To the right is the Carse of Stirling, an area of low-lying flat land. The peak of Ben Lomond can be seen at the right of each sketch. The bottom sketch includes a turn of the River Forth, with the rooftops of houses in the Bridge of Allan district of the city in the foreground.
