This sketch of the mountain Ben Venue was made from the east end of Loch Katrine. Turner travelled along the loch by boat from Stronachlachar pier (folio 22 verso; D26479) to the landing at the east end (see folio 27; D26488). This sketch seems to have been made from the water as the boat approached the landing. The next sketch that Turner made shows a similar view but from closer to the landing (folio 26; D26486). At the top of the page is a slight sketch of the profile of hills. This may be Ben A’an, as seen from the same point on the water, but looking in the opposite direction.
For more information about Turner’s visit to Loch Katrine and references to further sketches of it, see folio 47 (D26528).
