This view looks east along Glencoe, from the track that runs from the Bridge of Coe at Glencoe around the western slopes of the mountain to the glen. Straight ahead is the Notched Ridge (Aonach Eagach) at the north of the glen. The small building in the middle distance at the centre of the sketch has been identified as an inn that once stood to the south of the track, and which is also included in the sketch on folio 37 (D26811).1 See folio 2 (D26750) for information about Turner’s visit to Glencoe and references to the other sketches he made on the occasion.
At the top right of the page is the slight continuation of a sketch of the Isle of Staffa on folio 24 verso (D26788).
