The mountain called the Notched Ridge (Aonach Eagach) at the north of Glencoe is seen here from the road than runs through the Glen. Looking east towards the mountain Turner has indicated with a zigzag line and the letter ‘w’ (for water) where a stream runs down the mountain and joins the River Coe in the foreground.
For references to further sketches of Glencoe and more information about Turner’s visit to the area see folio 2 (D26750).
