This rather rough sketch depicts one of the two Falls of Foyers on the eastern shore of Loch Ness. The disturbance in the pool and stream beneath is carefully observed and represented with a variety of pencil lines and flourishes. A full list of Turner’s sketches of the falls is on folio 40 verso (D27034).
