Although there is very little architectural or topographical evidence to go on in this slight and rapidly executed sketch, the combination of the bridge arch and buildings at the right are suggestive of part of North Bridge and the Old Town in Edinburgh. There is a view of North Bridge and part of Edinburgh’s New Town on folio 63 (D27127) of this sketchbook.
