This is Turner’s second page of sketches of Horsburgh Castle, which he sketched from the road on the way to Innerleithen from Peebles. These three sketches were made from a few metres to the left of those on folio 11 verso (D26115). The sketch across the top half of the page shows the ruin in as much detail as was visible from Turner’s viewpoint to the north, with its setting on a mound before a ridge of hills to the south. Beneath is a slightly different view of the castle mound and ruin, and there is a final sketch of the ruin at the bottom left of the page.

There is a small black spot at the right centre of the page.
