Drawn with the sketchbook inverted, this sketch of Glasgow Cathedral begins a short series of views of the city: folios 69–71 verso (D26390–D26395). This view is from the south of the Cathedral, perhaps from the High Street, and seems to look down on a busy street from a height, perhaps from a first- or second-floor window, although the rough nature of the sketch makes the foreground hard to decipher. The outline of the cathedral picks out its west tower (no longer extant), the central tower and the nave.
For references to further sketches of Glasgow see folio 73 verso (D26399).
