Like folio 3 verso (D26677; CCLXXII 6), the sketch at the left side of this page is inscribed ‘Loch Ard’, and looks west across the water to the mountains from the Aberfoyle Road at the east end of the loch. Ben Lomond, however, is not visible in this sketch, indicating that it is a more southerly view. See folio 3 verso for references to further sketches of the loch.
Overlapping with the Loch Ard sketch and filling most of the page is a very rapid and rather rough sketch that appears to show a rocky stream or waterfall, perhaps Ledard Burn, which runs down Ben Venue to Loch Ard near Kinlochard; see folio 2 verso (D26673; CCLXXII 4).
