This sketch depicts shipping on a river with mountains on the far shore. It appears on the back of a page with a sketch made on the River Tay near Kinfauns Castle, which includes a boat on its continuing page (folios 28 verso–29; D26723, D26721; CCLXXII 30a, 29a). It is therefore likely that the four or five boats seen here are also on the River Tay.
