Prepared by Turner for his lectures as Professor of Perspective at the Royal Academy, Diagram 73 is a perspective construction of the Ionic capital represented in Diagram 72 (Tate D17096; Turner Bequest CXCV 125), for which see note for Turner’s source and likely preparation of these diagrams to illustrate the production of shadows. The same capital is seen with entablature in Diagram 73+ (Tate D17100; Turner Bequest CXCV 129).
