Crowning a wooded hill above the river is a building with a plain, blocky appearance, probably a fortification. Finberg’s assumption that this is a scene on the River Dart seems likely given that the river scene on folio 86 recto opposite (D08525; CXXIII 83) is inscribed as such, but the precise location remains unidentified.
For other views on the Dart, identified and unidentified, see under folio 84 verso (D08522; CXXIII 81a).
