Turner’s viewpoint is in the neighbourhood of West Quantoxhead, looking west along the Somerset coast, with the tower of Watchet church to the left of centre, the silhouettes of Dunster Castle and the nearby Conygar Tower beyond, and the hills above Minehead on the skyline. There is a similar view on folio 132 recto (D08613; CXXIII 192), under which other views of the locality are discussed. For other sketches of Dunster, see under folio 19 verso (D08398).
