The Fowey blockhouse and the distant tower of St Fimbarrus’s Church appear to the north-east in this slight continuation of the view of St Catherine’s Castle and Polruan on folio 20 verso opposite (D08891; CXXV 19a). The history and setting of the fortifications, as well as other Fowey views, are discussed under folio 19 verso (D08889; CXXV 18a).
Technical notes:
A long tear running to the bottom parallel with the right-hand edge has been repaired. There is light brown staining over much of the page and a dark, vertical mark (perhaps offset) towards the left.
