This page contains several sketches of the coastline between Pozzuoli and the Bay of Baiae. The studies in the top right-hand corner appear to represent part of the volcanic crater of Monte Nuovo. The two vistas at the bottom of the page meanwhile depict nearby Lago di Lucrino seen from the slopes of Monte Nuovo. The lake is separated from the sea by a narrow strip of coastline. The remaining composition in the top left-hand corner is part of a view of the Bay of Baiae which has spilled over from the opposite sheet of the double-page spread, see folio 89 (D15731; Turner Bequest CLXXXIV 87).
