The label on the spine of the Hesperides (1) sketchbook (Tate D40636; Turner Bequest XCIII) is similar, originally having read ‘71 H’, although following an addition by another hand it now reads ‘71 Hesperides Bk’.
Unusually, Finberg omitted to mention or transcribe the present label in his 1909 catalogue of the Turner Bequest.1
