This is the basis for two watercolours, now in the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester1 and the Yale Center for British Art, New Haven;2 the subject is mentioned among the ‘Order’d Drawings’ towards the beginning of this sketchbook (D40557). There are further drawings made at Hampton Court on folios 48 recto, 49 recto, 50 recto and 51 recto (D00603–D00606; Turner Bequest XXVI 49, 50, 51, 52).
