The smear of yellow pigment at the top right of the subject is similar to paint smears on the rectos or versos of other leaves: see folios 69, 74, 83–87 (D00629, D00635, D00653–D00657; Turner Bequest XXVI 72, 77, 91–95). The palette of this drawing resembles that of the studies on folios 71 recto and 72 recto (D00632, D00633; Turner Bequest XXVI 74, 75); see also Tate D00676 (Turner Bequest XXVII O).
