As Finberg notes,1 this leaf and folios 52 recto and 53 recto (D00459, D00460; Turner Bequest XXIV 50, 51) were loose and may have come either from this book or from the South Wales sketchbook (Tate; Turner Bequest XXVI). They seem to date stylistically to about 1798 and therefore probably belong with the group of drawings in that book from Turner’s 1798 tour of Kent; see Tate D00627–D00649, D00654–D00658 (Turner Bequest XXVI 71– 87v, 92–96).
