This page contains two, or perhaps three sketches of unidentified landscape views. The uppermost vista depicts a plain with mountains beyond, while the scene in the bottom right-hand corner represents a river scene which Turner has labelled as the ‘Rhone’ suggesting that his location was somewhere near Lyon. Similar views can be found on folio 35 and 36 (D16707 and D16709; Turner Bequest CXCII 34 and 35).
