Turner made a short detour from Paris, following the River Seine south-west to St-Cloud. This page contains two sketches related to that expedition. The main drawing appears to show buildings lining the banks of the river at St-Cloud. The view looks north (down-river) with the Seine on the right-hand side and Turner is probably standing near the Pont de St-Cloud, a stone bridge which can be seen in folio 8 (D14004).
Also inverted on the sheet is part of a view of the nearby Pont de Sèvres which has spilled over from the opposite sheet of the double-page spread, see folio 9 (D14006). For further sketches of St-Cloud see folios 6 and 12 (D14001 and D14011).
