This is the left half of a double-page spread continued to the right on folio 26 recto (D11410) opposite, recording the panorama of Upper Wensleydale from a viewpoint on Middleham Gallops to the south-west of the castle, panning through north-east and east to take in Middleham Church and Castle, and the view down Wensleydale towards Jervaulx Abbey. This sketch continues to the right the panorama from the same viewpoint begun in the north-west and north on the preceding spread, folios 24 verso–25 recto (D11407–D11408).
