Drawn while working though the sketchbook in reverse to the numbered sequence, this is the right half of a double-page spread continued from folio 294 recto opposite (D11894), recording the view from the bend about halfway up the Sutton Bank road (see notes to folios 295 recto and 294 verso; D11896, D11895), looking west and north-west to Gormire Lake in the middle distance just to the left of centre, and to Whitestone Cliff above right. The previous page spread in the sequence (from the back, folios 295 recto–294 verso (D11896–D11895) depicts the view south from exactly the same viewpoint and this continues the scan across the view to the right. The view is similar to another in the book (from the back, folios 290 recto–289 verso; D11886–D11885).
For Sutton Bank see D11896.
