This is the left half of a double-page spread, continued to the right on folio 19 (D10903), opposite, taken from under an avenue of trees on the bank of the River Ouse at York. The avenue is almost certainly the Lord Mayor’s Walk, stretching south from the present Skeldergate Bridge, and the sketch is probably the continuation to the right of the view on the immediately preceding double-page spread, across folio 17 verso and the recto (D10900–D10901).
