The page contains two sketches:
i. (above) A distant view of Peronne, also sketched towards the other end of this sketchbook (D29168; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 70).
ii. (below) The west face of the Mont Blanc massif from the Col de Voza, inscribed ‘Glacier’ for the Glacier des Bossons. The Valley of Chamonix lies below to the left, with the Aiguille Verte at the centre. The view is continued to the right on the opposite page (D29046; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 8).
The sketch of the walled citadel at Peronne appears to have been drawn first, as Turner made his way through France between St Omer and Geneva.
