This page contains three sketches:
i. (main sketch, inverted in relation to the main sequence of subjects in the sketchbook) Dole from the east, looking down the river to the town and church of Notre Dame.
ii. (bottom left, inverted in relation to the above) Aosta from the north-west; continued to the right from the opposite page (D29059; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 14a).
iii. (bottom right, also inverted in relation to the main sketch) Aosta from the north.
Turner’s hardly legible inscription was read as ‘Bath P’ by Maurice Guillaud for the 1981 Paris catalogue.1
