This page contains four sketches:
i. (main sketch) A panorama of Lausanne citadel and Cathedral from the south, taken from the vicinity of the Rue de Bourg, Lake Geneva and continued on the opposite page (D29062; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 16) to include Le Signal to the right. Turner has run out of room for the cathedral, which is directly above the prominent building, and has squeezed it in below (ii).
ii. (bottom right) Lausanne Cathedral, the continuation above of the main sketch (i) and further continued to the right, opposite (D29062). To the left of the cathedral, Turner has recorded successive stages of sunset.
iii. (bottom left) Vevey and the head of Lake Geneva looking east from the end of the promenade at Vevey. The first part of a three-part panorama, continued to the right above left (iv) and still further right, opposite (D29062), lower right.
iv. (top left) The south shore of the head of Lake Geneva from Vevey. The second part of a three-part panorama continued to the right from (iii). The sketch is inscribed ‘S’ above left pointing to a mountain at the head of the lake, where the rising sun is also indicated.
