This page contains four sketches:
i. (left, drawn with the page held upright) Looking over Geneva to the Mole, Mont Blanc and Mont Salève, from the north, in the vicinity of Ferney-Voltaire. Turner sketched similar views, probably on the same excursion (D34195 and D34290; Turner Bequest CCCXLII 11, 85), and also in a watercolour (D36109; Turner Bequest CCCLXIV 262), probably also of 1836.
ii. (centre left, drawn with the page held upright) A mansion, inscribed lower right ‘Gilly[?]’, and thus perhaps at Grilly on the Lausanne road north of Geneva.
iii. (above right) The Castle of Chillon, a close view from the east.
iv. (below right) Chillon, a close view from the west; a detail from the same angle as the sketch on the opposite page (D29148; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 60).
