Drawn inverted in relation to main sequence of subjects in the sketchbook, this sketch depicts Lausanne from the east, in the vicinity of Parc Mon Repos, looking at the left towards the foot of Lake Geneva. The view is continued to the left on the opposite page (D29154; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 63). The aspect is similar to that sketched elsewhere in the sketchbook (D29128; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 49) and effectively the continuation to the right of the sketch on the recto (D29152; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 62), which shows the view east to the head of Lake Geneva from the same viewpoint.
