This view of Verres, Val d’Aosta, includes the bridge in centre foreground, the College and Church of St Gilles to left, and Verres Castle on its crag to right. It appears to be closely related to the watercolour, Verres, Val d’Aosta (National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh)1 which however varies the form of the bridge and other buildings and does not, therefore, seem to have been made from the motif.
