This view looks up the Val d’Aosta, with the Château of St Pierre (right), Sarriod (centre left) and Château d’Argent tower on the hill in the distance. There is a figure on the road in foreground. Turner sketched the same view on a larer scale and in much greater detail in Tate D34514; Turner Bequest CCCXLIV 150.
