Drawn from the terrace of the park at Saint-Cloud, about six miles to the west of central Paris, this view looks north over the Seine with a multi-arched bridge.1 A sketch of the view in the opposite direction from a nearby spot is depicted on folio 21 verso (Tate D23440; Turner Bequest CCLVIII 21a), where the same bridge can be seen (sometimes along with another). See also folio 27 verso (Tate D24552; Turner Bequest CCLVIII 27a). For the other sketches Turner made at Saint-Cloud, see folio 3 verso (Tate D24505; Turner Bequest CCLVIII 3a).
