This sketch records the view from the cliffs above the north bay at Scarborough, near the junction of the present Queen’s Parade and Albert Road, looking north-north-west to Scalby Ness with Long Nab seen directly beyond. The view from the same spot, but looking in a southerly direction, is depicted in another sketch in the sequence (D11929; Turner Bequest CL 12). The sketches are separated in the present pagination, but the connection suggests that the given by Finberg might have corresponded to their original order.
