After studies of Okehampton Castle on preceding pages, Okehampton itself is seen from near the castle, looking north downstream along the West Okement River. On the hill at the top left is the tall tower of All Saints Church at a slight remove from the town, while the squatter tower of St James’s Chapel seems to be lightly indicated against the hill on the right. The exact viewpoint is difficult to establish on account of later buildings and tree growth in the valley. For other views of Okehampton, see under folio 43 recto (D09526).
