The view is looking north from the ferry at Jupiter Point, with the entrance to the Mill Pool and Forder Lake at the centre (now crossed by a bridge built originally for the Great Western Railway), and Wearde Quay on the right, beyond which the St Germans or Lynher River merges with the Tamar south of Saltash (over the hill). The left-hand half of the same view is shown on folio 33 recto (D09708) on a larger, more detailed scale.
There is a view from within the small harbour at Antony Passage in the 1813 Plymouth Hamoaze sketchbook (Tate D09255; Turner Bequest CXXXI 36). For other views on and around the St Germans or Lynher River, see under folio 27 verso (D09700).
Verso:
Blank. There is a mottled strip of staining on the outer edge towards the top corner of the sketchbook, as if the rest of the page had been masked at some point, but there is no corresponding staining evident on the edges of subsequent versos.
