As set out under folio 7 verso (D12134), there are nearly thirty pages of cloud studies in this sketchbook, some, as here, being annotated with colours and other observations. This study, inverted relative to the foliation, continues on the half-torn folio 71 verso opposite, and from there across the outer part of folio 70 verso (D12225, D12224; CLIV a 70a, 69a).
Technical notes:
There seems to be no sign of John Ruskin’s usual red ink foliation; there are such numbers on most of the earlier pages (see the Introduction to the sketchbook).
