Drawing with the page turned horizontally, Turner focuses on the interrelationship of these vessels’ sails, apparently in motion, but the study is rather unclear. There may be one or two boats in the left foreground, and the configuration of the ship beyond seems disjointed. For similar studies in this sketchbook, see under folio 8 recto (D10784).
