With the page turned horizontally, the viewpoint is above the Cattewater east of Plymouth, looking west to the tower of Mount Batten and the silhouetted Citadel towards the right, with Mount Edgcumbe across Plymouth Sound in the distance. There is a similar but more finished study on folio 74 recto (D09298), and the view on folio 72 recto (D09295) also seems to be related. The subjects as far as folio 127 recto (D09358) are all identified or presumed sites within a few miles in and around Plymouth, suggesting a series of fairly short excursions.
Technical notes:
A brown stain at the centre matches one on folio 72 verso opposite (D09296), but they are out of alignment, suggesting the sheets were not then bound as at present.
Verso:
Blank
