As Ian Warrell has noted, Peveril Castle is here seen from the south-west above a ravine. Warrell has also suggested that the view below shows Peak Cavern,1 below the north-west approach to the castle; this seems correct, as there are indications among the jagged rock forms of the telegraph pole-like frames associated with rope-making in the cave, as also apparently noted on folio 2 recto (D22153).
