In this rough and loosely rendered sketch Turner has depicted three distant profiles of Louvain ‘looking downstream from the hillside to the west at Ahin’ according to Cecilia Powell.1 At the left is an abbreviated rendering of trees and at the top right a separate diminutive sketch of a tree and church spire.
