This swiftly rendered and slight sketch shows a view at Oberwesel taken from within the town and looking upstream on the Rhine. The Schloss Schönburg is at right, atop the mount and at its base, the spire of the Pfarrkirche Liebfrauen (see Tate D28459–D28460, D2846; Turner Bequest CCXC 55–55a, 58).
