Looking upstream on the Moselle back towards the town of Burgen (Tate D28563; Turner Bequest CCXCI 14), Turner shows the castle of Bischofstein and the ruins of an ancient chapel atop a mount (see Tate D28564–D28565; Turner Bequest CCXCI 14a).
